Coco-Peat, also known as ‘Coir fiber pith‘ or ‘Coir dust,’ is a natural and renewable resource produced from the husks of coconuts. It is a byproduct when coconut husks are processed for the extraction of the long fibers from the husk. Coco-Peat is a multi-purpose soil conditioner and growing medium. It is consistent and uniform in texture. The natural pH of 5.7 to 6.5, plus an unusually high Cation Exchange Capacity -and 27% of easily available water assures that coir will hold and release nutrients in solution over extended periods without re-watering.

What Are the Main Types of Coconut Coir?
Coconut Coir is formed into three main types when its converted into usable compost: coco fiber, coco chips, and coco peat. Coco fiber is a strong material that is often turned into mats as it is rich in aeration, making it ideal for being used as a substrate to oxygenate roots. Coco chips are a flaky, wood-like version of coconut coir that combines key features of both coco fiber and coco peat. What is Coir EC and Why Does it Matter?
Coir Electrical Conductivity (EC) is a measurement of the presence of salt & other nutrients within the coir. Coir that has EC that is too high is often not suitable for growing unless it is washed off first. Producers tend to offer coir in both high and low-EC versions as some growers prefer to wash off the high-EC mixtures themselves before use in growing environments.
